The 2018 FIA Formula 2 Championship calendar will consist of twelve rounds in total, all supporting the Formula One World Championship. New for next year will be Le Castellet in France, 1 of 8 rounds to be held in Europe, with 4 flyaway events to complete the calendar, including new venue Sochi in Russia.
The teams will get their first chance to put the all-new car, the F2 2018, through its paces at a 1 day shakedown in Magny-Cours before receiving their second vehicle for the 2 pre-season tests (in Le Castellet and Bahrain, both race locations in 2018) to put their squads, and drivers, through their paces ahead of a long season of racing.
The second season of the championship will kick-off at the Bahrain International Circuit just 2 weeks after the final test of the year, and at the same track, ahead of the second flyaway race weekend of the season, in Baku, Azerbaijan. In May the teams will open their European accounts in Barcelona, followed two weeks later by Monte Carlo.
Le Castellet will be the start of the busiest period of the season, with 4 rounds in 6 weeks: France will be followed by Spielberg and Silverstone over 3 consecutive weekends, with a 2 week breather before Budapest closes out July.
The teams will have a well-deserved summer break before another set of back to back races, in Spa-Francorchamps and Monza, before flying to Sochi to round out September and the traditional season finale taking place once again at Yas Marina on November 23-25.
