No smile was bigger than Sean Gelael’s on Friday’s podium: the Indonesian star drove flawlessly from P12 on the grid to second at the flag! It’s a maiden F2 podium for the PREMA driver whose motto is “never say die”.
Championship leader Lando Norris’ weekend in Monaco was a bit messy, and he was penalised three times over the course of the event. First, he received a grid penalty for impeding Alexander Albon during qualifying. Then, he was handed a drive through penalty in the feature race for causing a collision with Ralph Boschung. Finally, on Sunday, he was guilty of a VSC infringement and lost a position in the final classification. Yet, he has extended his lead in the championship and remains the sole driver to have scored points in every single race this season!
Rookie Maximilian Günther has had a tough time since his stellar Championship debut in Bahrain. Round 4 looked like it was going to be a repeat with the German driver having to start the Feature Race from the pitlane following a penalty picked in qualifying. But the BWT Arden racer drove up to 6th position at the flag on Sunday and scored 4 points – his first since Round 1.
Following a crash at the end of the qualifying session in Monaco, Sérgio Sette Câmara was found unfit by the FIA Medical Delegate and was not allowed to race at Round 4. We’re looking forward to seeing the Carlin ace back in the car soon!
